In figuring your cost for Iris or Roland giclées from Hunter Editions, there are three separate pricing components to consider: pre-press, printing and options.

Pre-Press Pricing
The pre-press package (a one-time cost) includes the digital capture of your work, as well as proofing, color correction and archiving.

Pre-press is the most critical step in producing beautiful giclée prints. This is where the experience of a master printmaker working with the very best equipment makes the difference between a nice print and a beautiful, seductive fine art print.

During the pre-press process several proofs are created (the pre-press package includes up to three proofs, each approximately 8x10 inches), each on the actual media that you have chosen for your work. As we review each proof and make the appropriate corrections, we move toward the goal of a "perfect print," one that extracts the best from the process and possesses the exact character and feel you desire.

Pre-press costs range from $110 to $249 per original, depending on the type of original (digital file, film, original art) and the number of originals that are being processed as one job. Options include full-size proofs or extra proofs.

Printing
Iris giclées
Printing prices for Iris gicl
ées are dependent on the media used and the quantity of prints being produced. Costs are determined by the number of sheets printed using the same set-up, which might encompass a single large print or multiple smaller prints.

The price for printing Iris giclées on house paper (35"x46") will range from $175 for a single sheet to as low as $70 per sheet for quantities of 50 or more. Many artists start with a 5 sheet order, same layout, for $95 per sheet. If you printed four 16"x20" images per sheet, printing cost would be $13.75 for each print.

Roland giclées
Because Roland media is on rolls rather than in sheets, printing prices are based on the media used and the total number of square inches of printing required per job. Costs are determined by total number of square inches printed for a single image, same size. The price for printing Roland gicl
ées on canvas ranges from 21 cents to 9 cents per square inch.

Using the same example as our Iris giclée above, the approximate cost of a 16" x 20" print on canvas would range from $67 to $28.
