Artist Carol Ann Morley on the Art of Giclée
The Artist
Carol Ann Morley is an award winning artist who specializes in drawings about nature. Her descriptive portraits of plants and animals are penetrating, dynamic studies that are both realistic in content and lyrical in feeling.

Beyond the surface of the portrait's recognizable features, is a search for personal expression and inner meaning. Through the compositional structure of the piece Carol strives to capture the energy and intensity of a visual dance, bringing together her love of art, music and dance. The drawing becomes a journey to discover and reveal the pattern of rhythmical forms that emphasize the flow of lines, grouping and scattering of shapes, the tango of tones and accent of color or light.

Carol's art work is represented in numerous private and public collections including: the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation and The Shirley Sherwood Collection. In 2003 her botanical art work was selected from the Sherwoood show "A Passion for Plants" and included in an exhibition portraying the evolution of plants at The Smithsonian Institute of Natural History.

Classically trained in art, Carol graduated in 1963 from the Medway College of Art, Kent, England with the specialty in Illustration. This training was the foundation for the masterful skill in drawing for which she is known. Since coming to the United State in 1968 she has worked as a medical and natural science illustrator and Art director and has taught extensively in adult continuing education programs and university courses.

Carol currently resides in New Hampshire and is a member of The Guild of Natural Science Illustrators, The Graphic Artists Guild, The American Society of Botanical Artists and The Brooklyn Botanic Florilegium Society.

On Hunter Editions
Hunter Editions has produced such a magnificent series of giclee prints for me. The quality of the images are so beautiful, I cannot tell the difference between my art and their prints. The colors are so true to my palette and the gray tones show such a lovely depth and richness to them.

I am in awe when I look at my giclee prints. My artist friends are too, their immediate response is, "Wow that's a print!"

Beyond your fine precision printing is another quality; Your genuine enthusiasm and appreciation for artists and their art. I always look forward to visiting with your staff and enjoy the royal welcome I receive each time I arrive with my art work. I also know that I can leave my originals behind and they will be handled with the utmost of care and every small detail will be taken care of. That is a winning combination.
